Our Angel, Sparky
A LETTER TO SPARKY WITH ALL OUR LOVE
we are thinking of you this morning in such pain
crushing our souls to its core
the depth of this anguish is a hollow
empty void
early morning was your favorite time of the day.
we would sit by you on the couch and massage
your back and side and face
and talk to you so gently, until you slowly
opened your big brown eyes
looking at us with such profound love
we were surprised every morning wondering how
you could love us so much
we never felt worthy
you came over to our lives as an accidental angel from a puppy mill
so full of fleas and parasites, and the death gripping "heart worms"
we started medications and you were such a trooper.
you braved the treatments as we loved you
Your way of playing was so much fun
you ran around and round the den like a firecracker on fire
then scurried up those stairs leaping like a gazelle
go half way up and darted back down
to be sure we were coming
You were so joyful, so strong, so gentle
happiness oozed from your aura
your joy freshened our home with warmth
your ubiquitous blessings were felt all throughout our home
thank you
You became ill on Tuesday afternoon.
you threw up, over and over again.
you looked so sad that the vomit was on my floor.
I kept telling you it was ok.
all night Tuesday we sat right there with you.
we held you so tight and massaged your side and your face.
you gave me a that "Thank you, Mommy" love of acceptance.
I told you I would never let you go, but I knew you were leaving us.
your death howls were painful to hear;
I know you called the rainbow bridge
to ask the creatures to set your place.
your cries were telling us how much you adored us.
you died at 9:30 on Wednesday morning on your favorite couch
with Mommy and Daddy by your side watching the tough fight within you.
you didn't want to leave
We continued to hold and comfort you
friends were sent to carry you away, but we couldn't let you go.
we lay our heads on your beautiful tummy and scratched your ears
aided with our sobs on that couch, we told you,
"Sparky, we love you with all our being,
but they tell us we must let you go.
go with open paws and don't be afraid
go beyond the mysterious universe
that no one understands and remember,
we will always be with you."
as we watched them drive you away
we blew you a kiss and told you we are bonded
and we will never lose that connection
It was a joy loving you and your
spirit will be with us always
until time itself comes to an end
you beautiful angel,
you have changed our lives.
we understand unconditional love by living with you.
Thank you.
As we glance at the night sky we see a brand new brightly shining star in the heavens
Hi. Sparky!
Love,
Dad and Mom
